Junior Business Intelligence Analyst
Job description
Job Summary
The Junior Business Intelligence Analyst provides operational and reporting support to Dermorepubliq’s Business Intelligence function by helping ensure that reports, dashboards, datasets, and recurring BI outputs are accurate, organized, and delivered on time.
This role supports the Business Intelligence Analyst in routine reporting, data preparation, validation checks, dashboard refresh monitoring, documentation, and first-level BI support. The Junior BI Analyst is not expected to own data architecture, develop complex data models, lead automation initiatives, or define stakeholder reporting strategy. Instead, the role focuses on execution, quality checking, documentation, and process support to help maintain reliable BI operations.
The position is suited for an entry-level or early-career analytics professional who is detail-oriented, organized, eager to learn, and comfortable working with structured data, recurring reports, and business performance information under the guidance of the Business Intelligence Analyst.
Key Responsibilities
Data Preparation & Quality Checking
- Extract, clean, format, and organize data from approved sources such as spreadsheets, ERP, CRM, POS, ecommerce platforms, and other internal systems, following instructions from the Business Intelligence Analyst.
- Perform routine data quality checks to identify missing values, duplicate entries, inconsistent formatting, incorrect mappings, or unusual data movements.
- Compare and reconcile figures across source files, reports, dashboards, and trackers based on established validation procedures.
- Flag, document, and escalate data issues to the Business Intelligence Analyst for review and resolution.
- Maintain clean and organized working files, data folders, trackers, and report inputs to support reporting continuity.
- Follow standard naming conventions, file organization practices, and data handling procedures set by the BI function.
Recurring Report Support
- Prepare, update, and distribute assigned daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports based on established templates and timelines.
- Refresh recurring report files, dashboards, and trackers using documented procedures.
- Verify report figures, dates, filters, formulas, and references before submission or escalation.
- Prepare basic tables, charts, summaries, and data extracts for review by the Business Intelligence Analyst.
- Monitor recurring report schedules and help ensure that required BI outputs are completed on time.
- Assist in maintaining report logs, version histories, and submission trackers.
Dashboard Monitoring & Change Request Support
- Monitor assigned dashboards to check whether refreshes, filters, visuals, links, and displayed data are working as expected.
- Assist the Business Intelligence Analyst in maintaining existing dashboards by performing approved refresh checks, figure validation, label updates, formatting adjustments, and minor configuration changes based on documented procedures.
- Receive, log, organize, and monitor dashboard-related change requests, ensuring that requirements are clearly documented before endorsement to the Business Intelligence Analyst.
- Support the testing of approved dashboard changes by checking data accuracy, filters, visuals, labels, and user access before release or stakeholder use.
- Record dashboard issues, user-reported errors, broken links, refresh concerns, and follow-up items for proper tracking and escalation.
- Provide first-level support to users by helping them locate reports, navigate existing dashboards, and access approved BI resources.
Business Data Support
- Assist the Business Intelligence Analyst by preparing data inputs needed for business reviews, stakeholder requests, and performance discussions.
- Generate simple summaries of sales, ecommerce, finance, inventory, operations, and other business data based on predefined metrics and templates.
- Identify basic variances, outliers, and data movements for further review and interpretation by the Business Intelligence Analyst.
- Provide approved data extracts and report copies to business teams within the scope authorized by the Business Intelligence Analyst.
- Help organize supporting data for presentations, business reviews, and internal discussions.
- Ensure that shared data is accurate, properly labeled, and aligned with the latest available reporting period.
Process Improvement Support
- Identify repetitive manual steps, reporting delays, or recurring data issues observed during day-to-day reporting work.
- Suggest possible improvements to templates, trackers, documentation, or validation procedures for review by the Business Intelligence Analyst.
- Assist in testing improved report formats, updated templates, dashboard revisions, and simplified workflows.
- Support the rollout of approved process improvements by updating documentation and following revised procedures.
- Participate in BI improvement activities as a support resource, while primary ownership of automation, data modeling, and system design remains with the Business Intelligence Analyst or BI Lead.

Experience

- 0–2 years of relevant experience in business intelligence, data analytics, reporting, data management, or related roles is preferred.

- Strong sense of responsibility in meeting recurring reporting deadlines.
- Organized and systematic in managing files, trackers, documentation, and recurring tasks.
- Able to follow instructions, standard procedures, and established reporting workflows.
- Analytical enough to identify irregularities, errors, and unusual data movements for escalation.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with the BI Analyst and internal stakeholders.
- Proactive in asking questions, clarifying instructions, and raising potential data issues early.
- Willing to learn, open to feedback, and able to improve through coaching.
- Demonstrates confidentiality, professionalism, and care when handling business data.
Role Boundaries
- The Junior Business Intelligence Analyst is expected to support, validate, organize, and maintain BI outputs under the guidance of the Business Intelligence Analyst or BI Lead. The role does not own BI architecture, data model design, ETL pipeline development, dashboard strategy, cross-functional KPI standardization, or advanced stakeholder training.
- Primary ownership of BI system design, data modeling, automation strategy, and advanced business insight generation remains with the Business Intelligence Analyst or BI Lead. The Junior BI Analyst helps strengthen these outputs by ensuring that supporting data, files, documentation, and recurring reports are accurate, complete, and properly maintained.
GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES
This role provides a development path toward a full Business Intelligence Analyst position. The Junior Business Intelligence Analyst will gain hands-on exposure to data validation, recurring reporting, dashboard monitoring, change request support, documentation, business data support, and BI operations. With strong performance and continued skills development, the role may progress toward greater involvement in dashboard support and enhancement, automation support, analysis projects, and eventually a Business Intelligence Analyst role.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role that combines remote work with on-site presence as needed. The Junior Business Intelligence Analyst will work closely with the Business Intelligence Analyst or BI Lead and will support BI-related needs across ecommerce, finance, sales, operations, and other business functions. The role is suited for individuals who are detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working with data, and eager to grow in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
