Job description
An Electrician is a skilled professional who specializes in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in buildings and structures. They are responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment to provide electricity for various purposes. They execute wiring plans and ensure safety compliance. Electricians have expertise in various electrical systems, tools, and safety regulations.
Responsibilities: An Electrician performs a variety of tasks, including executing electrical wiring plans, installing fixtures and equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, and repairing electrical appliances. They work with different electrical systems, tools, and safety regulations to ensure the efficient and safe distribution of electricity. Their responsibilities also include conducting inspections, replacing old wiring, replacement of electrical fixtures such as lights, switches, sockets, circuit breakers, etc. and performing maintenance tasks including earth pit testing, thermal imaging of the electrical components, etc. to prevent system breakdowns and maximize electrical usability. Electricians use a variety of industry-specific tools to perform their tasks, including ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners, and cable testers. They must but not limited to: Understand and apply blueprints and technical diagrams Strong knowledge in Generator/ATS, ACB, etc. Should be aware about generator operation and testing and during any power failure, needs to be operate the system - Capable of starting the generator and switching over to the generator's electrical supply when the DEWA supply fails. Strong knowledge on the MDB deenergizing and capacitor bank operations and functionality Inspect electrical components including transformers, circuit breakers, etc. Use testing devices to identify and report electrical problems Record keeping filing Capable of recording Heat Loss Parameter (HLP) meter readings Ability to interpret readings from meters & gauges and other measuring units Installs, repairs and services specialized electrical equipment and machinery, Knowledge of fire alarm systems & Firefighting system, including panel maintenance and reset procedures Use hand and power tools Lockout / Tag Out procedures Adhere to local authority regulations Complete work orders on time Create records of materials used
Requirements: Proven experience as an electrician Understand and apply blueprints and technical diagrams Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g., wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability Good communication and interpersonal skills Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work long shifts and overnight
