Overview An advanced diagnostic laboratory in DeLand, Florida, is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor II to oversee operations within its Auto Chemistry department. This is a full-time evening shift role scheduled Tuesday-Friday, 5:00 PM - 3:30 AM , with one working Saturday every 12 weeks. This supervisor will guide a team of lab professionals, ensure workflow efficiency, maintain regulatory compliance, and lead quality improvement initiatives. Located in Central Florida, DeLand offers proximity to both Orlando and Daytona Beach, with access to beaches, state parks, outdoor adventures, and a vibrant downtown area - ideal for those looking for a lower cost of living and a relaxed lifestyle.
Key Responsibilities
- Departmental Oversight : Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring proper workflow from sample processing to reporting.
- Leadership & Training : Support staff training, competency evaluations, and team development plans.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance : Uphold internal policies and regulatory standards (CAP, CLIA, state-specific).
- Operational Efficiency : Monitor workload, resolve issues, and provide bench coverage when needed.
- Performance Management : Conduct evaluations, monitor KPIs, and support continuous improvement.
- Staffing : Create staffing plans, manage scheduling, and handle employment-related actions with approvals.
Qualifications - Must-Haves
- 6-8 years of experience as a Medical Technologist/Supervisor
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology , Biological Sciences , or a related field
- Valid Florida Supervisor License in Chemistry
- Certification from a recognized agency (e.g., ASCP , AMT )
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Experience
- Previous experience in a high-volume reference laboratory
