SALARY RANGE: $80,000 TO $95,000 PER ANNUM

Responsibility

Viridian AG Pty Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Broadacre Crop and Livestock Farmer to assist with the planning, management and day-to-day operation of broadacre cropping and livestock farming activities. The position will support the efficient production of crops and livestock, ensure farming operations are carried out safely and productively, and contribute to the ongoing sustainability and growth of the business.

Tasks

The successful applicant will be required to

  • Plan, coordinate and carry out broadacre cropping operations, including soil preparation, sowing, crop monitoring, spraying, fertilising and harvesting.
  • Manage livestock husbandry activities, including feeding, watering, health monitoring, breeding support, mustering and general animal welfare.
  • Operate, maintain and monitor farm machinery, vehicles, irrigation systems, fencing, yards and other farm infrastructure.
  • Assess crop and pasture conditions and assist in making practical decisions regarding fertiliser, chemical application, pest control and weed management.
  • Monitor livestock condition and assist with disease prevention, animal treatment and compliance with welfare requirements.
  • Maintain farm records, including chemical use, livestock movements, machinery servicing, production data and workplace safety documentation.
  • Supervise or guide farm workers, contractors or seasonal labour where required.
  • Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with workplace health and safety, biosecurity, environmental and quality assurance requirements.
  • Assist with seasonal planning and the efficient allocation of labour, machinery and resources across the farm.

Qualifications

  • Applicants should hold a relevant Bachelor qualification in agriculture, farming, agribusiness, livestock production or a related field, or have substantial practical experience of at least 5 years, in broadacre cropping and livestock operations.
  • Equivalent overseas qualifications or extensive industry experience will be considered.

Skills

Applicants must demonstrate

  • Sound knowledge of broadacre cropping and livestock farming practices.
  • Ability to operate and maintain modern agricultural machinery and equipment.
  • Practical understanding of animal husbandry, crop production, farm safety and biosecurity.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a rural farming environment.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage seasonal workloads.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, maintain accurate records and work as part of a team.
  • A current driver's licence is required, and machinery or heavy vehicle experience will be highly regarded.

Experience

  • Applicants should have relevant experience in broadacre farming, mixed farming or livestock production.
  • Experience in crop establishment, spraying, harvesting, machinery operation, livestock handling, animal health, fencing, farm maintenance and general rural property operations will be highly regarded.
  • The successful applicant must be reliable, physically capable and able to work in accordance with seasonal and operational farming requirements.

SALARY RANGE: $80,000 TO $95,000 PER ANNUM
