ANNUAL SALARY: $92K to $100K PLUS SUPERANNUATION
Scope of Position
This position has key responsibilities to contribute and assist with the safety and efficiency of Geographe Civil Pty Ltd projects and operations and to align all activities to the organisations strategic planning and objectives.
This will be achieved by the installation of sewer, stormwater and water reticulation systems in accordance with construction specifications, Australian standards and specific Authority guidelines and the operation of company equipment and plant.

Responsibilities
The Drainer is responsible for the safe and efficient installation, maintenance and repair of underground drainage and water reticulation systems in accordance with construction specifications, Australian Standards, authority requirements and company procedures. The role supports the successful delivery of civil construction projects while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and professionalism.
Tasks
- Install sewer, stormwater and water reticulation systems in accordance with approved plans, specifications, Australian Standards and relevant authority guidelines.
- Interpret and apply construction drawings, plans, specifications and survey information to drainage works.
- Undertake basic set-out activities and assist with site surveying requirements.
- Measure, mark out and prepare work areas for drainage installations.
- Excavate and prepare trenches using both mechanical and manual trenching techniques.
- Lay, connect, align and secure underground drainage pipelines, fittings, pits, manholes and associated infrastructure.
- Operate laser grade systems and other drainage installation equipment to ensure accurate levels and alignment.
- Test completed drainage systems to verify compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Diagnose and rectify faults, blockages and defects within existing drainage networks.
- Assist in the safe and efficient completion of onsite projects and civil construction activities.
- Direct and provide guidance to labourers and supporting crew members as required.
- Maintain plant, machinery and equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
- Complete relevant project records, inspections and compliance documentation.
- Liaise professionally with management, colleagues, contractors, customers and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Certificate III in Plumbing (Drainage) or equivalent recognised trade qualification; or
- Suitable industry certification and/or relevant drainage experience demonstrating competency in the role.
- Construction Industry White Card.
- Current driver's licence preferred.
- Additional tickets or certifications relating to excavation, trenching, confined space entry, traffic management or plant operation will be highly regarded.
Skills
- Sound knowledge of sewer, stormwater and water reticulation systems and associated infrastructure.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, drainage plans and construction specifications.
- Competency in drainage installation techniques, trenching methods and drainage testing procedures.
- Experience operating laser grade systems and using drainage-related tools and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Strong commitment to quality workmanship, safety and environmental compliance.
- Physical capability to perform manual work in varying site and weather conditions.
Experience
- Minimum two years' experience working as a Drainer or in a similar civil construction environment.
- Demonstrated experience installing sewer, stormwater and water reticulation infrastructure.
- Proven experience undertaking trenching, pipe laying, alignment and drainage system testing activities.
- Familiarity with Australian Standards, local authority requirements and civil construction specifications.
- Experience working within land development, industrial, commercial, infrastructure or mining projects is desirable.
