Location: Ogba, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, competent, and compassionate Medical Officer (Post-NYSC) with a minimum of three (3) years post-NYSC clinical experience to join our reputable healthcare facility in Ogba, Lagos .

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered medical care, including patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care. The Medical Officer will work under the supervision of senior medical consultants and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal clinical outcomes in line with best medical practices and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care and Clinical Duties

Assess patients by reviewing medical histories, symptoms, and presenting complaints to determine appropriate care.

Conduct thorough physical examinations and request, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic investigations.

Diagnose and manage a broad range of medical conditions in line with standard treatment guidelines.

Develop, implement, and monitor effective treatment plans, escalating complex cases to specialists or consultants when required.

Prescribe, administer, and monitor medications and treatments in compliance with established clinical protocols.

Provide preventive healthcare services, including health education, wellness counseling, and lifestyle modification guidance.

Attend promptly to emergency and acute care cases.

Participate actively in shift duties, on-call schedules, and emergency coverage as required.

  • Documentation and Medical Records Management

Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation for all patient encounters.

Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for patient data entry, treatment notes, and follow-ups.

Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of patient records in compliance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards.

  • Patient Communication and Education

Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and medication instructions clearly and compassionately to patients and their families.

Educate patients on disease prevention, medication adherence, and post-treatment care.

Address patient concerns professionally, ensuring a positive patient experience.

  • Collaboration and Professional Practice

Work closely with consultants, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care.

Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, case discussions, and departmental reviews.

Ensure strict compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, quality assurance standards, and professional ethics.

Facilitate appropriate referrals for specialist or advanced medical care when necessary.

  • Training, Development, and Continuous Improvement

Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME), Continuous Professional Development (CPD), and in-house training programs.

Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and research activities as assigned by management.

Stay updated with current medical guidelines and best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MBChB) from a recognized institution.

Licensure: Full registration and a valid practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) .

Experience: Minimum of 3 years post-NYSC clinical experience in a reputable healthcare facility.

Required Skills and Competencies

Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling abilities.

Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.

Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and fast-paced clinical environment.

Proficiency in computer usage and healthcare management systems, particularly EMR platforms.

High level of professionalism, empathy, integrity, and ethical conduct.
