Credit Analyst
Job description
To support the Wholesale Banking Group by conducting comprehensive credit analysis, financial assessments, and risk evaluations for corporate lending proposals. The Credit Analyst will be responsible for preparing high-quality credit recommendations, ensuring compliance with the Bank's credit policies, and supporting sound lending decisions while maintaining portfolio quality.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Analysis
• Analyze corporate credit proposals by evaluating financial statements, cash flows, and business performance.
• Assess borrowers' creditworthiness using financial ratios, industry benchmarks, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Prepare detailed credit appraisal reports with clear recommendations.
• Evaluate repayment capacity, leverage, liquidity, profitability, and cash flow adequacy.
Financial & Risk Assessment
• Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, including
• Ratio analysis
• Cash flow analysis
• Debt Service Coverage Ratio (DSCR)
• Leverage and liquidity assessment
• Sensitivity and stress testing
• Identify key credit risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
• Assess industry, market, and macroeconomic factors impacting credit quality.
Credit Proposal Evaluation
• Review and analyze proposals related to
• Corporate Banking
• Mid-Corporate Lending
• Contract Finance
• Real Estate Finance
• Trade Finance
• Factoring Facilities
• Ensure all credit proposals comply with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support the approval process by providing well-structured credit recommendations.
Portfolio Monitoring
• Monitor the performance of existing credit facilities and identify early warning signals.
• Review periodic financial statements and covenant compliance.
• Highlight deteriorating credit trends and recommend corrective actions.
• Support periodic portfolio reviews and risk assessments.
Policy & Compliance
• Ensure adherence to the Bank's credit policy, risk framework, and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain high-quality credit documentation and approval records.
• Support internal and external audit requirements.
• Participate in credit policy enhancement and process improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Management
• Work closely with Relationship Managers to understand client requirements and structure appropriate lending solutions.
• Coordinate with Risk, Legal, Operations, and Compliance teams during the credit approval process.
• Provide timely support to business units while maintaining independent credit judgment.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, CFA, MBA, CIMA , or equivalent are preferred.
• Credit Risk or Banking certifications from recognized professional institutions are an advantage.
Experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Corporate Banking and Corporate Credit functions.
• At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience in credit analysis and financial assessment.
• GCC or UAE banking experience is highly preferred.
• Experience evaluating large corporate and mid-corporate lending proposals.
