We are looking for a passionate Engineering Director for the Philippines to work in a hybrid setup for our US-based client. For this role, we only process candidates that are based Metro Manila Philippines and have legal authorization to work in the Philippines.

An experienced Engineering Director to oversee and elevate the performance of multiple software development projects and engineering teams. This role is ideal for a technically adept leader with a strong background in system design, hands-on software development, and coaching engineers toward excellence in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight: Own the success of 5-10 client projects , ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and meet quality standards.
  • Technical Supervision: Guide the technical architecture of each project, making sure engineering teams are building the right solutions the right way.
  • Team Management: Directly manage and support a team of 10-20 engineers , working on different client projects. Identify performance gaps, provide coaching, and promote growth.
  • Reporting: Communicate project health and engineering performance to executive leadership, providing insights and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Experience:
  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • 2+ years in engineering leadership roles, including direct people management
  • Techical Expertise:
  • Deep understanding of modern software engineering best practices and system architecture
  • Proven ability to architect modular, testable, scalable, and secure systems
  • Familiar with setting up productive development environments and workflows
  • Technical Stack:
  • Proficiency with React and React Native
  • Familiarity with Python for backend development
  • Comfort using Generative AI tools to boost engineering productivity
  • Leadership Skills:
  • Ability to mentor engineers and technical leads , set clear expectations, and foster accountability
  • Strong client communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Startup Background:
  • Prior experience working in startup environments , understanding the pace and ambiguity involved

Nice - to - Haves

  • Hands-on experience building features on top of LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI/ChatGPT)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and modern CI/CD pipelines
  • Exposure to product and design thinking
