Job description

My client in the metal industry is seeking a Millwright who will ensure maintenance including problem solving, ensure minimum downtime.

Qualifications

· Qualified and Trade Tested as a Millwright

· Must have at least 5 years work experience in the steel industry

· Must be prepared to work shifts

· Weekend work is required on a rotational basis

· Sound knowledge and experience in mechanical works

· Knowledge of PLC control systems would be an advantageous

· Must be prepared to work overtime scheduled or unscheduled outside of the normal hours

Duties & Responsibilities

· Checking and inspecting machinery, placing orders with buyer for parts and reporting issues to the Maintenance Manager or Section Head

· Ensuring that all equipment and machinery is maintained and fit for purpose

· Generating and executing job cards daily for planned preventative maintenance and breakdowns

· Reviewing job cards or operations from the previous day to identify problems and corrective actions required

· Carrying out breakdown repair work on electrical and mechanical equipment within reasonable time

· Completing root cause and failure analysis on prolonged and repeated breakdowns

· Ensuring that recommendations for improvements to the planning office are made regularly

· Carrying out repairs and maintenance as per job card specification

· Analysing and communicating technical information to internal and external customers as well as the Section Head

· Completing documents and reports in an accurate and disciplined manner and within time restraints

· Proposing and actioning improvements to the company procedures

Executing planned maintenance on the plant and equipment respectively
