About the role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Policy Officer to support the delivery of policy and legislative reform that contributes to organisational and government priorities. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will assist with policy research, stakeholder engagement and administrative support activities that help inform evidence-based decision making and ensure the effective administration of a complex regulatory framework.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical and organisational skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is eager to develop their policy expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of policy projects, programs and initiatives to ensure objectives are achieved within agreed timeframes.
- Undertake research, gather information and contribute to analysis that informs policy development and decision making.
- Assist in preparing briefing notes, reports, correspondence, discussion papers and meeting materials.
- Coordinate meetings, working groups and committees, including preparing agendas, minutes and action items.
- Provide administrative and secretariat support to facilitate stakeholder engagement activities.
- Respond to routine enquiries and provide accurate information and advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain records, documentation and databases to support policy development, implementation and reporting activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to contribute to effective policy outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate
- An interest in public policy, government initiatives and contributing to positive community outcomes.
- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to gather and interpret information from a range of sources.
- Excellent written communication skills and the ability to prepare clear, accurate and professional documentation.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- The ability to work collaboratively and build positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Sound administrative skills and confidence using Microsoft Office 365 and other business systems.
- A proactive approach, willingness to learn and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Policy, governance, legal or regulatory experience or, experience supporting projects, policy development, administration or stakeholder engagement activities will be highly regarded.
