About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Work Group Leader Signals, you will play a key role in maintaining the operational integrity, safety, and efficiency of the rail corridor. This position involve s hands-on technical work as well as contributing to continuous improvement and team capability.

  • Install, maintain, modify and repair rail signalling and communications equipment in accordance with technical standards and safe working procedures.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults across signalling systems to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the rail network.
  • Perform testing, inspections and certification of signalling equipment, maintaining accurate documentation and compliance records.
  • Maintain and adjust mechanical signalling, locking and interlocking equipment to meet operational and safety requirements.
  • Maintain signalling and telecommunications cables, aerial lines and associated infrastructure. Respond to equipment failures and operational incidents, restoring signalling systems safely and efficiently to minimise disruption.
  • Maintain and repair wayside equipment, including dragging equipment detectors and associated trackside monitoring systems.
  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and fault finding on standby generators.

What do we want from you?

Essential

  • Cert 4 Qualified Rail Signal Electrician
  • Knowledge and practical ability to implement rail safety management, OHS principles, and electrical codes of practice.
  • Experienced in field fault finding, maintenance, and repair of signalling systems.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Driver’s Licence – Class C

Desirable

  • ARTC Statement of Competency (Signals) or proven ability to attain via Signals Competency Assessment

About the Team Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets. The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.
