Resident Care Associate-Bristol
Job description
Looking for a Full-time Resident Care Associate to work in our transitional housing program. This role helps support individuals in recovery from substance use disorder while they participate in outpatient treatment and work toward stable housing.
Essential Job Functions
- Adheres to all policies and procedures of Fairview, the rules and regulations of the DBHDS and the Code of Virginia and observes expectations of the employee code of ethics.
- Assist in management of rooms. Including intakes and discharges, bed assignments, room checks, etc.
- Observe and report changes in physical or emotional well-being.
- Obtaining drug screens.
- Ensuring the home environment is safe, clean, and comfortable by overseeing housekeeping task list for residents, and keeping common are like cleaning, serving meals and room change-outs.
- Planning and implementing recreational and educational activities to promote residents’ well-being and socialization.
- Maintaining confidentiality and respecting the privacy of residents
- Working closely with IOP and residential clinical staff and medical professionals to implement individualized care plans for each resident and ensure documentation for billing services.
- Providing professional standards for emotional support and modeling appropriate interactions and relationships to the residents
- Responding to emergencies promptly and following the appropriate protocols
- Complete Relias training as required for this job profile.
- Attain other job proficiencies as required to perform this job profile (example: basic computer skills).
- Compliance with Fairview Staff Handbook and all related policies and procedures.

- Services and systems available in the community, including primary health care, support services, eligibility criteria and intake processes, and generic community resources.
- The nature of substance uses disorders, psychiatric disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and co-occurring disorders.
- ASAM placement criteria and other types of assessments, including functional assessments, and their uses in service planning.
- Knowledge of documentation standards and requirements
- Knowledgeable about and comply with established program policies and procedures and with VA’s Licensure and Human Rights regulations.
- Knowledgeable about confidentiality (HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2) regulations
Job Standards (Minimum Education & Qualification Needed to Perform Job)
- Current valid driver’s license.
- Valid Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Training in behavioral intervention according to DBHDS standards upon hire and retraining at least on an annual basis.
- Willingness and ability to travel and use personal transportation in work capacity at all FHMC licensed facilities.
- Ability to successfully complete training in agency approved methods in handling medical emergencies and aggressive behavior management, i.e., CPR and Therapeutic Options.
- Successfully completed drug screening prior to employment and random drug screenings while employed at Fairview.

- General office equipment, i.e., computer, copier, shredder, etc.
- Computer equipment and software are necessary to perform job.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to bend, traverse steps and twist to perform housekeeping duties.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. Regularly; occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
