Job description

About the role | He kōrero whakamārama mō tēnei tūranga

As a Better Days Rehab Physiotherapist, your week could include:

  • Completing community-based physiotherapy assessments for clients referred through ACC contracts.
  • Designing practical, goal-focused rehabilitation programmes that support independence, participation and better everyday function.
  • Working across HCS, Training for Independence and other ACC community rehabilitation pathways.
  • Supporting clients with mobility, strength, balance, falls prevention, fatigue, pain, confidence, functional movement and return to meaningful daily activities.
  • Working closely with our Christchurch OT, and the wider interdisciplinary team (eg SLTs, dietitians, Social workers) to provide joined-up rehabilitation.
  • Communicating with clients, whānau, ACC, support providers and other stakeholders.
  • Writing clear, clinically reasoned reports and recommendations.
  • Managing your own diary and caseload in a way that is organised, sustainable and responsive.
  • Helping shape and grow the Better Days Christchurch rehab service as it continues to evolve.

You will have flexibility and autonomy, but you will not be working alone. You will be part of a connected team that values strong clinical reasoning, practical problem-solving and meaningful outcomes for clients.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a registered physiotherapist with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand.
  • Has ideally 3-5+ years' physiotherapy experience, preferably in rehabilitation, community, hospital, ACC, neurological, orthopaedic or complex injury settings.
  • Enjoys working autonomously and is confident managing a community-based caseload.
  • Loves being a physiotherapist and wants to keep developing a broad rehabilitation skill set.
  • Is comfortable working in a service that is growing, changing and evolving.
  • Communicates clearly with clients, whānau, referrers, ACC and the wider team.
  • Has strong clinical reasoning and can turn assessment findings into functional, participation-focused goals.
  • Enjoys interdisciplinary teamwork and wants to work closely with OT, SLT, psychology, rehab coaching and other providers.
  • Is open to travelling across Christchurch and surrounding areas.
  • Has a full, clean driver licence and access to their own vehicle.
  • Is legally entitled to work in New Zealand.

Experience with ACC injury rehabilitation, HCS or Training for Independence contracts would be an advantage, but we are also interested in hearing from physiotherapists who have the right mindset, clinical reasoning and appetite to learn.

What success looks like

  • Clients have clear, functional and participation-focused rehabilitation goals.
  • ACC, clients, whānau and the IDT receive timely, clinically reasoned communication and reporting.
  • The Christchurch service grows with strong physiotherapy input, reliable community delivery and trusted local relationships.
  • You feel challenged, supported and proud of the work you are doing.

Support and benefits | Huanga

  • Clearly defined career progression pathways.
  • Flexible working hours and work-from-home options.
  • Learning and development programmes to support your growth.
  • Professional development budget to attend external events.
  • Wellbeing days.
  • Travel reimbursement.
  • Competitive salary with bonus payment scheme.
  • A voice to be heard and the opportunity to make a true impact
