The Company:

Corvaya Therapeutics is a discovery-stage biotechnology company, founded by Raven (the company creation arm of RA Capital), developing novel therapeutics to transform the treatment of allergic diseases. We are building a highly innovative team where each individual meaningfully shapes not just the science but also the culture. This role provides a unique opportunity for scientists who want to play a key role in building the company and executing on its vision.

Position:

Corvaya Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated, creative and collaborative Scientist/Senior Scientist in Immunology to join our growing team. You will be making critical contributions to the company’s success by interrogating cellular and molecular mechanisms as they relate to Corvaya’s goal of addressing allergic diseases. The candidate’s primary role will be lab based and include a range of cellular, molecular and biochemical assays to support drug discovery efforts. The successful candidate will be an accomplished immunologist with demonstrated communication and organizational skills who can work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design experiments and research plans to explore mechanisms of drug/target activity including evaluations of potency, pharmacology and efficacy of biologics
  • Develop and implement robust cell-based and cell-free assays for type 2 immunity mechanisms, including B cells, mast cells, and IgE
  • Design and coordinate PK/PD studies to run externally, and perform ex vivo sample processing and analysis
  • Collaborate with protein engineers, computational biologists, and molecular biologists to evaluate drug candidates and nominate leads
  • Design and analyze flow cytometry panels for functional and phenotypic analyses of immune cell populations, both in vitro and ex vivo
  • Identify critical project questions, and generate high-quality data to inform decision-making for program milestones
  • Build productive collaborations with external scientific services providers and leading academic experts
  • Document, analyze, interpret and present experimental data in a clear and concise manner
  • Recognize, troubleshoot and solve technical and scientific issues to ensure high quality data are generated

Qualifications

  • A PhD scientist with 5+ years industry experience in drug development, including familiarity with Type 2 immunology (industry or academic); equivalent experience will also be considered
  • Demonstrated success designing experiments to address key decision points for discovery-stage programs
  • Extensive hands-on expertise in cellular immunology, including cell culture, primary cell functional assays, flow cytometry, ELISA/MSD
  • Expertise in immunology, including mechanistic in vitro and in vivo models of atopic disease
  • Experience designing and analyzing in vivo PK/PD and efficacy models, including ex vivo analyses of cells from blood/tissue by flow cytometry and of soluble proteins in serum/tissues by ELISA/MSD
  • Independent and pro-active, willing to accept ownership of a project and drive it to completion
  • Conscientious record-keeping, organization, and attention to detail
  • A strong communicator and collaborator, who works effectively with individuals of diverse expertise

Preferred Qualifications

  • Substantial Type 2 immunology experience, including primary B cells and in vivo allergy models
  • CRO management experience for in vitro and in vivo studies
  • Industry experience with biologics
