Job description

What you will be doing as a Head Chef:

  • Lead the culinary direction of Tesoro, with a focus on Italian-inspired food and premium Tasmanian produce
  • Design and deliver seasonal menus that balance creativity, quality and commercial performance
  • Lead, mentor and develop a capable and motivated kitchen team
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations across restaurant service, breakfast, events and hotel activations
  • Manage food costs, labour costs, supplier relationships and menu engineering
  • Maintain strong food safety, hygiene and WHS standards
  • Work closely with the F&B and hotel leadership teams to deliver memorable guest experiences
  • Support conference and events through tailored menus and smooth execution
  • Drive consistency, innovation and continuous improvement across the kitchen

 

About you

You are a calm, confident and creative kitchen leader who knows how to bring a team with you. You care about quality, consistency and culture, and you understand that a successful kitchen needs both strong standards and good energy.

You will bring:

  • Experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a quality restaurant or hotel environment
  • Strong knowledge of Italian cooking, ingredients and flavour profiles
  • Experience with menu development, cost control and supplier management
  • Confidence leading, training and developing a kitchen team
  • Strong financial understanding, including food cost, labour management and menu performance
  • A hands-on leadership style and the ability to stay composed during busy service
  • Relevant culinary qualifications and food safety certification
  • Current working rights in Australia
