An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Sr Engineer/Scientist 1 in the Modeling Development group within UOP's Research and Development organization located in Des Plaines, IL. This position affords a unique and visible opportunity to develop model-based experimental design solutions using statistical analysis and advanced parameter estimation methods, with direct application to reactor and process model development for new R&D process technologies.
Position Responsibilities: -Taking a leading role to utilize rigorous statistical analysis for model-directed experimental design, to optimize data collection and analyses for current and new technologies. -Ability to develop and implement new data-to-modeling programs across diverse technologies and analytical methods, working with diverse group of technology experts. -Grow and maintain the technical knowledge base for statistical DOE, data analytics, and advanced parameter estimation methods in the Modeling Development group and R&D at large. -Developing conceptual process models and applying to reaction engineering and process optimization of new process technology. -Support development project teams with process modeling capability to maximize the value delivered to clients by Honeywell's UOP technology.

YOU MUST HAVE -PhD in a quantitative field (Statistics, Applied Math, or Chemical Engineering specialized in statistics or data analytics) -2+ years of experience in modeling, process simulation, process development or reaction engineering -3+ years of experience in applied model-directed experimental design and statistical analysis
WE VALUE -Experience with parameter estimation methods, with emphasis on Bayesian search optimization, artificial intelligence, neural network, and/or sequential search techniques -Familiarity with numerical methods, process simulation and data visualization tools -Excellent computer programming skills. -Strong interpersonal skills and the capability to work effectively across multiple functional departments. -Knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals including fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer and reaction engineering. -Knowledge of UOP technologies: Refining/Petrochemicals/Gas Processing applications. -Knowledge of Six-Sigma principles and their use in managing risk and uncertainty.
