Job Summary

D.C. Goodman & Sons is a full-service mechanical contractor specializing in the sale, installation, and service of mechanical, heating, plumbing, electrical, and sprinkler systems for commercial and institutional clients. We're hiring an HVAC/Plumbing Technician to install, maintain, and repair commercial-grade systems on new construction and renovation projects. Ideal candidates are comfortable working from blueprints on multi-trade job sites, with hands-on commercial (not just residential) experience. Whether you're mid-level and ready to work semi-independently or an experienced journeyman capable of leading crews, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC and plumbing systems in commercial/institutional buildings
  • Read and work from commercial mechanical blueprints and specs on new construction and renovation projects
  • Diagnose issues across heating, cooling, ventilation, water supply, and drainage systems, and perform preventive maintenance
  • Run and connect piping (copper, PVC, steel)
  • Work with commercial-grade equipment (rooftop units, boilers, chillers, VAV systems, larger-diameter piping, backflow prevention systems)
  • Coordinate on-site with other trades (electrical, sheet metal, fire protection)
  • Document work, pull permits as required, and liaise with facility managers at client sites
  • Support fire sprinkler-adjacent mechanical work as needed

Qualifications

Required

  • HVAC or plumbing apprenticeship (4-5 yrs) or trade/technical school (1-2 yrs) plus field experience
  • 3-5+ years of hands-on commercial HVAC/plumbing experience (entry-level apprentices willing to train also considered)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between job sites

Preferred

  • 5-8+ years of experience for lead technician/crew training roles
  • Journeyman or master-level trade card (union or accredited apprenticeship)
  • Backflow prevention certification
  • Local/municipal HVAC and plumbing licensure (check Huntingdon County requirements)
  • Comfort reading and interpreting commercial mechanical blueprints and specs
  • Experience working alongside multiple trades on active job sites
