Job Summary
D.C. Goodman & Sons is a full-service mechanical contractor specializing in the sale, installation, and service of mechanical, heating, plumbing, electrical, and sprinkler systems for commercial and institutional clients. We're hiring an HVAC/Plumbing Technician to install, maintain, and repair commercial-grade systems on new construction and renovation projects. Ideal candidates are comfortable working from blueprints on multi-trade job sites, with hands-on commercial (not just residential) experience. Whether you're mid-level and ready to work semi-independently or an experienced journeyman capable of leading crews, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair HVAC and plumbing systems in commercial/institutional buildings
- Read and work from commercial mechanical blueprints and specs on new construction and renovation projects
- Diagnose issues across heating, cooling, ventilation, water supply, and drainage systems, and perform preventive maintenance
- Run and connect piping (copper, PVC, steel)
- Work with commercial-grade equipment (rooftop units, boilers, chillers, VAV systems, larger-diameter piping, backflow prevention systems)
- Coordinate on-site with other trades (electrical, sheet metal, fire protection)
- Document work, pull permits as required, and liaise with facility managers at client sites
- Support fire sprinkler-adjacent mechanical work as needed
Qualifications
Required
- HVAC or plumbing apprenticeship (4-5 yrs) or trade/technical school (1-2 yrs) plus field experience
- 3-5+ years of hands-on commercial HVAC/plumbing experience (entry-level apprentices willing to train also considered)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between job sites
Preferred
- 5-8+ years of experience for lead technician/crew training roles
- Journeyman or master-level trade card (union or accredited apprenticeship)
- Backflow prevention certification
- Local/municipal HVAC and plumbing licensure (check Huntingdon County requirements)
- Comfort reading and interpreting commercial mechanical blueprints and specs
- Experience working alongside multiple trades on active job sites
