Community Fundraiser - Newcastle

As a Community Fundraiser, you’ll be the face of Marie Curie in your community. You’ll grow and support fundraising groups, recruit and motivate volunteers, and build meaningful relationships with supporters, local businesses and the media. By delivering campaigns such as the Great Daffodil Appeal and supporting local initiatives, you’ll help generate vital income that enables Marie Curie to provide care and support to people living with terminal illness and their families.

This is a highly relationship-focused role where your energy, organisation and people skills will directly translate into impact.

Your Role: 

• Build, develop and steward a network of fundraising groups and volunteers.
• Recruit, induct and support volunteers, creating a positive and motivating experience.
• Develop and deliver volunteer recruitment plans to grow local support.
• Provide excellent stewardship to community supporters, event participants and corporate contacts.
• Proactively grow your network of individual, group and corporate supporters.
• Build relationships with local media to increase visibility and coverage.
• Deliver key national campaigns locally, including the Great Daffodil Appeal and other flagship initiatives.
• Manage public collections and community fundraising activities across your region.
• Use the full Marie Curie fundraising portfolio to offer supporters the most appropriate ways to get involved.
• Contribute to and deliver against agreed income targets and budgets.

Key Criteria:

• Experience managing or supporting volunteers, or strong exposure to volunteering environments.
• Experience raising funds in a community setting (paid or voluntary) or experience in a related discipline such as sales, marketing, PR or project management.
• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to targets.
• Confident communicator, comfortable engaging diverse audiences including schools, community groups and corporate contacts.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
• Experience implementing national campaigns at a local level and working with local media is desirable.

Salary: £28,274 - £31,415

Contract:  6 month contract 

Based: Hybrid role, 2-3 days in Newcastle hospice
