Job description

Role Purpose

The Senior Commercial Manager provides commercial finance leadership, analysis and project support to enable the Allied Health Services division to achieve its financial, operational and strategic objectives.

This is a dynamic role encompassing aspects of operations as well as improvements to the function and a leading influence in developing and executing meaningful initiatives that improves financials and lives of our participants.

The role includes periodic reporting support, budget and forecast reviewing, correcting and improving divisional P&Ls and assistance with financial modelling, initiating improvements to the finance function and developing insights and new key strategic long-term changes to the business.

This is a hands on role where the ideal candidate can get into the detail of businesses to understand the financial and operational drivers but equally sufficiently strategic to support growth initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Prepare budgets and regular forecasts in line with the Group timetable.
  • Respond to financial information queries in a timely manner and in accordance with business requirements.
  • Support the finalisation of profit and loss statements and related analysis, particularly during the first few working days of month-end.
  • Provide commercial and finance training to key stakeholders as required.
  • Proactively challenge current processes and find better, more efficient and effective ways of doing tasks better
  • Work with centrally managed Finance team members to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time, in line with Group policy and Australian Accounting Standards.

Analysis, Insights and Recommendations 

  • Work with key stakeholders to develop collaborative working relationships that support the division to achieve budget.
  • Proactively identify trends, draw insights and provide recommendations to support informed decision-making.

Projects

  • Support the structuring, analysis and planning of strategic projects for the division.
  • Where appropriate, lead projects from initiation through to handover, including business case development, project management and execution.
  • Lead benefits capture and reporting for key strategic initiatives. 
  • Other duties as reasonably required.

  • Extensive experience in a similar commercial finance or commercial management role
  • CA or CPA qualification, or equivalent professional accounting background, is preferred
  • Experience in investment banking, management consulting and/or corporate strategy is highly regarded.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • The ability to work accurately with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to analyse complex issues and develop practical solutions
  • Adaptability in a changing business environment.
  • A positive, solutions-focused approach and persistence in progressing priorities and delivering outcomes
  • Ability to work independently
