Your new role
As our Designer – BIM (Revit), Structures, REC, you will be part of a world class, innovation driven engineering design Centre, Ramboll Engineering Centre (REC) Healthcare.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Develop detailed 3D BIM models for structural framing, foundations, slabs, reinforcement, steel, and concrete elements using Revit & CADS RC.
Coordinate structural models with architectural and MEP models, supporting clash detection and resolution activities.
Prepare, update, and maintain GA drawings, reinforcement/fabrication drawings using CADS RC & Revit.
Adhere to and enforce the BIM Execution Plan, modelling standards, LOD requirements, and company templates on all assigned projects.
Maintain model health, file structure, naming conventions, and version control to ensure clean, coordinated, and reliable models.
Interpret engineers’ calculations, sketches, and RFIs and convert them into accurate BIM models and drawings.
Perform structural analysis and design for healthcare, and complex public buildings in compliance with British Standards (BS) and Eurocodes (EN 1990–1999) will be considered as an advantage
Develop and review structural models, calculations, and specifications for reinforced concrete (RCC), steel, and composite structures will be considered as an advantage
Participate in coordination meetings and design reviews, presenting structural BIM viewpoints, issues, and proposed solutions.
Guide and mentor junior modelers/designers, perform QA/QC on their work, and share best practices.
Prepare project deliverables (models, extractions, exports, IFC, COBie, etc.) in line with client/consultant BIM requirements.
Maintain clash reports, coordination logs, and change logs, and provide regular progress updates to project managers and BIM coordinators.
Your new team
You will be part of REC, which was established as a dedicated institution for creating an excellence centre in Ramboll. REC focuses on providing global expertise using local resources from India. Facilitates cooperation between India, business units in Europe, and the Middle East, specifically for the Buildings, Transport, and Water sectors.
This large team is divided into groups of dedicated personnel working for structures in the UK, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Norway, who sometimes also work across these boundaries. They are virtual team mates working on common projects, prime business units in the above countries being the ones who coordinate with the clients and other consultants, as well as with REC to pass on the design solutions to the user. The wide range of projects varies from high-rise structures to precast and post-tensioning, depending on the region and the country for which you are working. The most attractive thing is despite of the challenges of working across continents, because of the culture of planning ahead and the ability to understand each other’s needs, everyone works in a peaceful and lively manner, enjoyment and empowerment being some of the Ramboll values.
Skills and Competencies
Strong proficiency in structural BIM software such as Revit Structure and/or Tekla Structures & CADS RC, with advanced modelling and detailing skills.
Hands-on ETABS, FEM Strusoft, Autodesk Robot, IDEA Statica, Tekla Structural Designer, SAFE, or STAAD.Pro will be considered as an advantage.
Solid understanding of structural systems, including RCC, steel, composite structures, foundations, load paths, and constructability aspects.
Practical knowledge of BIM standards, LOD concepts, model coordination workflows, and clash detection tools (e.g., Navisworks).
Familiarity with UK Structural Standards, including: BS 8666:2020 Eurocode 2
UK project delivery processes
High attention to detail, strong drawing presentation skills, and a quality-focused QA/QC mindset.
Effective communication skills, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment, and a willingness to mentor others.
Experience working in BIM environments and common data environments (CDEs) like BIM360 or ProjectWise.
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline (preferred).
Typically 3 to 6+ years of relevant BIM structural modelling and detailing experience, including large or complex building or infrastructure projects.
Prior exposure to international codes, standards, and client BIM requirements (US, UK, Middle East, etc.) is an added advantage.
