Position Overview Reporting to the Operations Excellence Manager or Director, the Operations Excellence Specialist will monitor and improve operational processes, lead and support change initiatives, projects, and collaborate with the Warehouse leadership team. The Operations Excellence Specialist will be responsible for research and analysis, mapping out all workflows, removing waste and low-value activities from processes, and recommending and implementing solutions to increase safety, efficiency, productivity and reduce costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and lead initiatives to identify and drive change across the organization using existing business processes such as gap analysis, Plan Do Check Act (PDAC) or Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve & Control (DMAIC)
- Identifying gaps and sustainable opportunities for improvement within the warehouse from a productivity, efficiency or space optimization perspective
- Coordinate and lead projects for improvement across different levels of the organization.
- Establishing standards for projects in order to track overall progress and compared with actual results.
- Ensure end-to-end value propositions are prioritized and realized
- Analyze data regularly with the intent to generate detailed reports for multiple levels within the organization
- Collaborating with cross functional teams on workshops, team trainings to share expertise and provide guidance for organizational alignment.
- Staying up to date with industry trends for best practices
- Analyze workflow bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and waste to develop optimization strategies.
- Conduct training sessions to build capabilities and foster a culture of continuous learning and engagement.
- Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational performance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leading as an example
Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or related field) is ideal, but not a requirement
- 3-5 years’ related experience applying problem-solving methodologies in work environments.
- 3-5 years of continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, Accelerated Root Cause, Kaizen / Lean, etc.
- Proficient at using problem-solving tools, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
- Strategic, analytical, forward thinking, collaborative and innovate
- Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and ongoing projects
- Proven ability to communicate and build relationships with a customer focus
- Proven ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Prior experience with AutoCAD considered an asset
- Driver’s License and expectation to travel to various warehouses.
- Intermediate skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Position follows a hybrid work requirement, consisting of four (4) days onsite and one (1) day remote weekly.
- Primarily office-based with standard working hours; may require additional hours to meet project/work deadlines or address urgent matters.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
- Minimal physical demands, primarily involving sitting, using a computer, and other office-related activities
