About Hidden Creek Recovery & Retreat

Hidden Creek Recovery & Retreat (HCRR) provides residential mental health treatment for adolescents ages 11–17 . Our clients may present with a variety of behavioral health needs, including self-harm, aggression, suicidal ideation, substance use, trauma, mood instability, depression, and anxiety.

We are seeking Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) who are compassionate, dependable, and able to provide structure, safety, and consistent support to youth who may be actively symptomatic. This role is ideal for individuals interested in growing in the mental health field and who enjoy working with adolescents in a residential treatment setting.

Position Overview

The Behavioral Health Technician is a vital member of the Hidden Creek Recovery & Retreat System of Care. Under the supervision of the Director of Housing and Transportation , the BHT is responsible for client safety, behavioral monitoring, documentation, and maintaining a therapeutic, structured environment throughout the residential program.

Schedule

  • 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Key Responsibilities

Maintain continuous supervision and ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for clients and staff

Provide active support and model appropriate behavior for adolescent clients

Monitor, observe, and document client behavior and participation

Count and track all clients with accurate documentation

Supervise self-administered medications as directed

Assist with implementation of daily and weekly residential structure

Complete and submit incident reports and notify leadership of safety or risk concerns immediately

Report medical emergencies, elopements, or ACA incidents to leadership promptly

Complete end-of-shift reports via email to the Director

Orient new admissions to the facility and complete housing intake documentation

Search new client belongings to ensure no contraband enters the facility

Conduct random residential searches for contraband

Monitor curfews and ensure adherence to program rules

Transport clients to appointments, activities, support groups, and other facilities using company vehicles

Attend all staff meetings and mandatory in-services

Follow infection control and safety guidelines at all times

Report any illness or symptoms of contagious disease to leadership

Knowledge, Skills & Training

Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during crisis situations

Strong problem-solving, stress management, and communication skills

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team

Knowledge of substance use disorders and their physical, emotional, and psychological impact

Ability to recognize medical emergencies and respond appropriately

Familiarity with emergency procedures, overdose response, First Aid, and CPR

Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and evolving program needs

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED (required)

CPR Certification preferred

Must pass a Level 2 Background Check

Preferred (not required): 0–1 year of experience working with adolescents in a behavioral health, psychiatric, chemical dependency, residential, PHP, or outpatient setting
