Licensed HVAC Mechanic (Journeyman)
Department of Veterans Affairs – North Texas VA Medical Center Location: Dallas, TX Employment Type: Full-Time Contract Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Start Date: September 2026
Job Summary
Cetechs is seeking experienced, licensed Journeyman HVAC Mechanics to support the Department of Veterans Affairs at the North Texas VA Medical Center in Dallas. This position is responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial and institutional HVAC systems that support critical hospital operations.

Essential Duties
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Service air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and chilled water systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Diagnose and repair refrigerant leaks, compressors, motors, pumps, and controls.
- Adjust and calibrate mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic control systems.
- Perform chemical treatment of HVAC water systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Complete daily work reports and maintenance documentation.
- Coordinate daily assignments with the VA Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
- Maintain compliance with VA, OSHA, NFPA, and industry safety standards.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess
- Active Texas HVAC License
- Minimum four (4) years of journeyman-level HVAC experience
- Siemens Controls Training (certificate required)
- OSHA Certification
- Experience troubleshooting commercial HVAC systems
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
- Strong troubleshooting and independent problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Hospital or healthcare facility maintenance experience
- Experience with chilled water plants
- Experience with central HVAC systems up to 500 tons
- Knowledge of NFPA 99 requirements
- Experience working in mission-critical facilities
Physical Requirements
This position requires
- Frequent lifting, carrying, climbing, kneeling, bending, and standing
- Working in confined spaces
- Exposure to electrical equipment, hot surfaces, mechanical equipment, and outdoor weather conditions
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding work throughout an entire shift
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- 40 hours per week
- Overtime may be available with prior approval
