Design Manager - Structural
Job description
Role Summary:
The Design Manager - Structural will lead and manage structural design coordination and technical engineering activities for projects in Abu Dhabi, ensuring compliance with local authority regulations, international design codes, and project specifications. The role is ideal for candidates with a strong design consultant background, capable of supporting construction teams with robust technical solutions and design leadership
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and review structural design deliverables including calculations, drawings, and technical reports
- Coordinate with design consultants, PMC, and client representatives on structural engineering matters
- Review IFC drawings, shop drawings, and method statements for structural works
- Ensure compliance with Abu Dhabi DMT/ADM requirements, Estidama, and Civil Defence regulations
- Apply international codes and standards such as ACI, BS, Eurocodes, and ASTM as applicable
- Provide technical support to site teams and resolve structural design and construction issues
- Review and respond to RFIs, technical queries, and design clarifications
- Participate in design coordination and value engineering exercises
- Support authority submissions and approvals related to structural works
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
- Minimum 15 years of experience as a Structural Engineer, with significant exposure in a design consultancy
- Proven experience on projects in Abu Dhabi or UAE
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design for concrete and steel structures
- Familiarity with UAE construction practices and authority approval processes
- Ability to work closely with contractors, PMC, and multidisciplinary teams
