Job description

Overview

The Log Advisor is responsible for examining and analyzing driver logs to ensure compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and company policies. This position serves as a primary resource for drivers and Fleet Managers on HOS-related questions, audits ELD and log data for violations and discrepancies, and communicates findings across departments to ensure drivers are able to transport freight within legal driving limits. The Log Advisor plays an important role in supporting Prime's safety-first culture by helping drivers remain compliant, reducing HOS violations, and protecting Prime's CSA score.

Responsibilities

Prime, Inc. is looking for a hard-working, dedicated associate join our Logs Department. A Log Auditor is responsible for examining and analyzing driver logs to ensure compliance with federal regulations by performing the following duties:

  • Provide support and white-glove service to Prime drivers.
  • Review driver logs and ELD data for Hours of Service compliance with applicable FMCSA regulations.
  • Take inbound phone calls, emails, and internal AS400 messages from drivers and Fleet Managers regarding HOS questions, log issues, and compliance concerns.
  • Respond to driver inquiries regarding Hours of Service regulations and ELD usage.
  • Stay current with federal regulations governing driving limits and ELD requirements as issued by FMCSA.
  • Perform various audits of driver logs and ELD records; communicate discrepancies with drivers and their Fleet Managers.
  • Communicate with various departments regarding drivers' abilities to transport freight within legal Hours of Service standards.
  • Performs related work as required.

Schedule: 7am-5pm, Sunday - Thursday

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities. Ability to work independently and used reasoning to find solutions to problems.

Knowledge

Basic knowledge of the trucking/transportation industry preferred. Familiarity with FMCSA Hours of Service regulations and ELD systems is a plus.

Abilities

Strong organizational, computer, and customer service skills required. Accurate typing with a minimum of 45 WPM. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internal systems including AS400 required. Proficiency with AI tools such as Claude a plus. Multitasking and a flexible schedule required, including some weekend availability. Applicants must have excellent communication, mental math, prioritization, and conflict resolution skills.

Experience, Education, and Training

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in a Business or related field is preferred; or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to sit and remain focused for extended periods of time. Call volume is significant. The associate must be capable of multitasking between computer systems, telephone, and concurrent projects simultaneously

Working Environment

Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general office environment. Call volume can be heavy at times. This is primarily an on-site position Monday through Friday, with occasional remote flexibility as approved by supervisor.
