Food Service Worker
Job description
LOCATION: Hospitality House - 1002 N. Main Ave., Tucson, AZ
STATUS: Temporary/ Full Time/ 35 hours per week and Temporary/ Part Time/ 15 hours weekends
SCHEDULE
Full-time: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am until 3 pm
Part-time: Saturday and Sunday: 7:00 am until 3 pm
Employment through 11-15-2026

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma/GED
- Basic Cooking and food preparation experience
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation procedures
- Must possess and maintain Food Handler Certification
- Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment, including a commercial dishwasher
- Able to demonstrate respect and sensitivity towards a diverse population
- Must pass a criminal background check
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with preparing simple meals, sandwiches, snacks, and beverages for shelter clients
- Perform light cooking and food preparation tasks as directed
- Serve meals using established portion control guidelines
- Replenish food, beverages, snacks, and condiments as needed
- Assist with meal setup and breakdown
- Remove trash and keep kitchen areas clean
- Operate a commercial dishwasher, cleaning pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Help maintain the cleanliness of the dining room, wiping tables and mopping
- Sort, inspect, weigh, and properly store donated food items
- Monitor food expiration dates and remove outdated products
- Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the walk-in cooler, freezer, and dry storage area
- Perform other duties as related to the position of Kitchen Assistant/Food Service Worker

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
