The Operational Accounting Department is responsible for effective and efficient business processes for Accounts Payable, Claims Payable, Banking and Payroll reconciliation activities for all companies in the Co-operators Group, with the exception of Addenda. The Associate Operational Accountant is responsible for a variety of tasks related to operational accounting for the group of companies. These tasks include the administration of the corporate credit card, provision of support for users of the DATABASICS system, performance of internal control procedures and analysis, and performance of a number of tasks related to payroll, including the reconciliation of income statement and balance sheet accounts, the remittance of statutory deductions and intercompany settlement of commissions.
How you will create impact
- Administer the group-wide credit card program ensuring adherence to corporate policy.
- Provide user support for the DATABASICS system across the group of companies including fielding user questions or requests. Analyzing data and situations to determine course of action to resolve the issue.
- Reconcile all general ledger accounts related to payroll/the HRIS system for all companies.
- Prepare remittances for statutory deduction and other payroll deductions and submit for payment.
- Create manual journal entries relating to payroll as necessary, including the payments not posted to the Comp Hub system and intercompany settlements of commissions.

To join our team
- Accounting/Commerce post secondary graduate.
- You have minimum 2-4 years experiences in accounting or finance in a life insurance or property and casualty environment preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and adherence to compliance and policy.
- Working towards becoming a Chartered Professional Accountant (i.e. CPA).
- Experience with Oracle ERP is an asset.

Salary information
"Expected salary/hourly range $50,280 - $83,800" (min-max, full range)
Salary placement
"The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education."
Incentive/Variable pay
"Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics."
