Job description

Position Overview: The Facilities Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of [insert parish/school name]'s facilities. This role involves working across both parish and school buildings, supporting daily operations, event setups, and general upkeep to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for parishioners, students, staff, and visitors. Under the direct supervision of the Facility Manager, the Facilities Assistant helps ensure the facilities operate efficiently and meet the needs of both communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Support:
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of parish and school events, ensuring all equipment, furniture, and materials are properly arranged as directed.
  • Daily Cleaning and Maintenance:
  • Address cleaning needs that arise in out-of-the-ordinary situations, ensuring the campus remains presentable and safe.
  • Material Handling:
  • Haul materials, furniture, and other items across the campus as needed for events, office moves, or maintenance tasks, etc.
  • Facility Upkeep:
  • Conduct routine inspections of the campus to identify and address minor maintenance issues.
  • Ensure facilities are in good condition, reporting significant repairs to the Facility Manager.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the Facility Manager to prioritize tasks, schedule maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Other Duties:
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and appearance of the campus.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in facilities management, maintenance, or related roles preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50lbs safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning and maintenance practices.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexible and willing to work evenings or weekends as required for events.

Work Environment: The Facilities Assistant role involves physical labor and may require standing, walking, lifting, and bending for extended periods. Work is conducted indoors but may occasionally require outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions.

This role is part-time, 25 hours per week - pay rate is $20-$22 per hour
