Job Purpose & Scope

The AML Operations Analyst is responsible for processing Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), ensuring accurate records are maintained on the bank-wide Monetary Instrument Log (MIL), and performing Watch List alert reviews.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepares CTRs for review and filing by AML Operations management.
  • Identifies unusual or potentially structured cash transactions in the CTR review process and escalates them for further review.
  • Identifies business customers who may be eligible for CTR reporting exemptions and refers the customer to AML Operations management for evaluation.
  • Identifies opportunities for additional training of Bank employees on CTR completion.
  • Reports any late CTR filings or potential late filings to AML Operations management.
  • Responds to questions from retail staff regarding large currency reporting procedures and policy.
  • Reviews the bank-wide Monetary Instrument Log for record of required transactions.
  • Assists in the scrubbing of customers and transactions against the 314(a) list. •

Performs other tasks as directed by AML Operations management.

Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions.

Maintains good punctuality and attendance to work.

Follows Bank policy, procedures, and guidelines.

Assists other teams within BSA Administration, as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of the FFIEC manual, BSA/AML and OFAC laws and regulations (including Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, US Treasury AML guidelines and OFAC requirements).

  • Knowledge of BSA/AML processes, investigative techniques and advanced research techniques using the Internet, public websites, and third-party repositories. •

Knowledge of AML software and case management systems.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize work and projects

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, including ability to present to senior and executive management.

Ability to work effectively independently, without supervision.

Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.

Skill in using computer and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of one (1) year of work experience in AML (or comparable field), preferably in the financial industry, required; OR, in lieu of work experience, bachelor’s degree required.

  • Professional Certification (CAMS, CFE, CBAP, CRCM or other related certifications), or willingness to obtain certification within 18 months, required.
