Job Details

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Part-Time Laboratory Clerk/Registrar to join our laboratory team. In this role, you will provide excellent customer service while supporting patient registration, laboratory operations, and communication between patients, providers, and laboratory staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Register patients accurately and efficiently, ensuring all required demographic and insurance information is obtained.
  • Enter laboratory orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) with a high level of accuracy.
  • Receive, process, and route laboratory specimens to the appropriate testing departments to ensure timely workflow.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and respond professionally to requests for laboratory reports, test results, and other inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate records while protecting patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, physicians, nursing units, and other departments to ensure efficient patient care and laboratory operations.
  • Perform additional clerical and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous coursework or training in computer applications, office administration, or secretarial studies is preferred.
  • Two to three years of clerical, administrative, medical office, or healthcare registration experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong computer proficiency and data entry skills.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including telephones, fax machines, photocopiers, and other office technology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interact professionally and courteously with patients, families, physicians, laboratory personnel, outside agencies, and other hospital staff.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Salary Range

USD $27.86 - USD $27.86 /Hr.
