Additional Information About the Role
BJC has an opening for a Manager, Environmental Services & Safety in St. Charles. This onsite leadership role is responsible for overseeing Environmental Services, Safety and, Emergency Management. The position supports both Progress West Hospital and Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital , providing leadership and coordination across these key functions to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Overview
Opened in 2007, Progress West Hospital is BJC HealthCare’s newest hospital in St. Charles County, featuring modern private rooms. It offers 24-hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to provide world-class pediatric emergency care.
Progress West Hospital also provides surgical services, endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Progress West Hospital recently completed an expansion of its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at-risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks.
Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center. The hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Manages, develops and directs overall operations for safety, compliance with regulatory standards and policies relating to safety and telecommunications. Maintains a safe environment for staff, patients, guests, volunteers and contractors. Coordinates safety and telecommunication activities with other campuses and public emergency responders as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Monitors and ensures compliance with applicable safety standards and regulations through implementation of safety and health-related policies and procedures.
- Coordinates and oversees the development and implementation of the management plans, goals, evaluations and ongoing performance improvement.
- Oversees hazard surveillance inspections, identifies risks and coordinates implementation of risk strategies, in addition to coordinating and overseeing an industrial hygiene program.
- Oversees log record-keeping, accident investigation and job hazard analysis. Prepare & implement organizational construction safety policies, procedures and submit summary activity reports in accordance with agency/accreditation requirements.
- Serves as the Chairperson of the Safety Committees, and coordinates and oversees the activities of the Safety Committees.
- Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

- Bachelor's Degree - Related field of study
