Role Purpose

The Director reports to the Vice President, Health Information Systems (e.g., Applications, Products) and is responsible for overseeing service delivery, as delivered through a combination of internal BJC and WashU employees and Suppliers, supporting planning and implementation of systems, financial management, and lifecycle management of the applicable platforms (Epic and integrated systems), applications, and/or products. The role has responsibilities for tracking industry trends and organizational benchmarking for areas of responsibility. This role is key in assuring that delivery agents (internal staff or suppliers) support the organization effectively by delivering according to expectations, monitoring satisfaction of delivery of the services, driving service improvement, and understanding where gaps may exist in delivery agent capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Manages and develops solutions, products or services through their full life cycle from inception, growth, maturity, decline to retirement. Plans, estimates and executes systems development work to time, budget and quality targets.
  • Investigates products, systems and services to assess behavior and whether this meets specified or unspecified requirements and characteristics. Specifies and designs software to meet defined requirements by following agreed design standards and principles.
  • Designs and deploys software product configurations into software environments or platforms. Develops software components to deliver value to stakeholders.
  • Delivers management, technical and administrative services to support and maintain live applications. Applies the processes, systems and functions required to make new and changed services and features available for use.
  • Establishes rapport with key executive BJC and WashU stakeholders to ensure work priorities is aligned and understood by stakeholders. Responsible for providing executive report outs on key areas of work on behalf of the team. Creates a thriving environment for all team members.
