  • Screen and evaluate constituent complaints, and conduct follow-up work as necessary (e.g. through communicating with individuals related to the complaint and conducting factual research).
  • Provide investigative and litigation support as needed to attorneys on civil rights investigations and litigation.
  • Participate in outreach events, including trainings and public presentations.
  • Network with community organizations and governmental agencies.
  • Create and update Division brochures and written materials.
  • Research issues of interest to the Division.
  • Respond to public records requests and other informational inquiries.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Position Requirements : Candidates must have either (A) a Bachelor’s degree, (B) an Associate degree with at least two years of equivalent experience, or (C) four years of equivalent experience. Equivalent experience includes consistent full-time or equivalent part-time technical or professional experience in public relations, hotline or call center work, or working with the public.

Other position requirements include

  • Demonstrated commitment to protecting and advancing the constitutional and statutory civil rights and liberties of residents and visitors to the Commonwealth.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and extensive experience with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple long- and short-term tasks and projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to build rapport with people of diverse ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds and to interact positively with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress.
  • Ability to convey information and communicate clearly and effectively in different settings, including on the phone, in person, in writing, and in public presentations.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information through conversations and research and to summarize such information and analysis verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole or other languages is preferred.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve and an interest in supporting a respectful, diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
