Job description
We are working closely with local authority in Barnet to assist with the appointment of a Family Support Worker, on a 3-months contract , highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay : £19.92- £26.28 per hour
Summary
The Family Support Worker (Grade H) plays a key role in supporting children, young people, and families to improve their wellbeing, strengthen parenting capacity, and promote positive outcomes. Working within Family Services, the postholder delivers practical, emotional, and targeted support to families experiencing a range of social, emotional, and environmental challenges. The role focuses on early intervention, safeguarding, and preventing the escalation of family difficulties by working collaboratively with social workers, partner agencies, schools, health professionals, and community organisations.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and intervention to children, young people, and families in line with agreed care or support plans.
- Undertake home visits and community-based work to assess needs, monitor progress, and provide practical assistance.
- Assist families in accessing education, healthcare, housing, financial advice, employment, and community support services.
- Support children and young people in developing life skills, emotional resilience, confidence, and independence.
- Participate in supervision, reflective practice, mandatory training, and continuous professional development activities.
Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.
- Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, Childcare, Family Support, Youth Work, Early Years, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Essentials
- Experience supporting children, young people, or families within social care, education, youth services, early help, health, voluntary sector, or community settings.
- Experience working with vulnerable families experiencing complex needs.
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and child protection procedures.
