Salary: ₦500,000 – ₦700,000 Monthly (Negotiable based on experience)
Experience: 3–5 Years Post-Fellowship Experience
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Hematologist (Oncology) to join a leading oncology healthcare provider in Lekki, Lagos. The successful candidate will specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of patients with benign and malignant hematological disorders, including blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary oncology team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care while contributing to clinical excellence, research, and continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Diagnose and manage patients with hematological disorders and blood cancers.
- Develop individualized treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care.
- Interpret laboratory investigations, bone marrow biopsies, blood smears, and molecular diagnostic results.
- Monitor treatment response and adjust management plans accordingly.
- Manage hematological emergencies and treatment-related complications.
- Provide transfusion support and oversee blood product utilization.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings.
- Collaborate with oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, pharmacists, and nursing teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Coordinate referrals and continuity of care for patients requiring specialized services.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards.
- Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality assurance guidelines.
- Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Patient Education & Support
- Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and follow-up care.
- Provide compassionate counseling and support throughout the treatment journey.
- Promote preventive healthcare and early detection initiatives where applicable.
Research & Professional Development
- Participate in clinical research and oncology-related educational activities.
- Stay current with advancements in hematology and oncology practice.
- Mentor junior doctors and healthcare professionals where required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or equivalent).
- Fellowship in Hematology from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) or West African College of Physicians (WACP) .
- Current practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) .
- Additional oncology-related certifications will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years' post-fellowship experience as a Hematologist.
- Proven experience managing patients with hematological malignancies in an oncology or tertiary healthcare setting.
- Experience administering and monitoring chemotherapy protocols is highly desirable.
