Project Manager (Engineering Manager I)
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is seeking a highly motivated leader with exceptional communication and project management skills to join our Region Three team.

As a Project Manager (Engineering Manager I), you will steer vital transportation projects from initial planning through design, construction, and early maintenance. Position Information
Here is some important information about this position
- Salary Range: $46.67 - $74.06/hr
- FT/PT Status: Full Time
- Working Schedule: In office Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Background Check: You must successfully pass a criminal history check
- Schedule Code: B – Career Service (12-month probationary period)

Key Responsibilities
As a UDOT Project Manager, you will be responsible for
- Project Oversight: Define project scope, develop comprehensive task lists, and direct projects through their entire lifecycle-from planning and design through construction and the first year of maintenance.
- Delivery & Quality: Deliver high-quality final products on time, within budget, and aligned with project scopes while maintaining a strict customer-focused approach.
- Team Leadership: Lead and collaborate with diverse teams of technical specialists, fostering an environment of accountability and excellence.
- Risk & Communication: Proactively evaluate risks, resolve project issues, and maintain clear, timely communication with all stakeholders.
- Contract Management: Develop, negotiate, and administer engineering and construction contracts.
- Community Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with local governments to align projects with future regional developments and transportation needs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensure: Active registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Utah.
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of professional engineering experience following your PE licensure.
- Core Skills: Strong communication, facilitation, and organizational abilities.
- Autonomy: Proven ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, and drive results with minimal direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in roadway design.
