Carolina Waste has immediate opening for a 2nd Shift Diesel Mechanic ( noon start time) to join our GROWING 2nd shift team at our site in N. Charleston, SC.

As a key member of our technicians team, your work as a Diesel Mechanic will focus on the overall maintenance of equipment used by our company. This will involve inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Initiating repairs by utilizing vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes

Completing required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times

Reviewing, completing, or assigning repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports

Conducting safety checks on vehicles and equipment

Performing service calls for emergency breakdowns

Maintaining a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 1 year of proven experience in the field

Ability to adapt to a wide variety of environments to complete work assignments

Welding/fabrication experience, a major plus

Valid CDL or the ability to obtain one with 90 days.

Ability to lift 50 pounds, ability to stand most of the work day, ability to stoop, kneel, and bend, ability to reach into tight spaces, ability to climb and crawl, ability to reach and twist, ability to grasp and use hand tools with precision, ability to see/read/write work orders, gauges etc., ability to withstand exposure to loud noises.
