Senior Surveillance Agent
Job description
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Surveillance Operations, the Senior Surveillance Agent is responsible for overseeing the effective coordination and execution of surveillance activities to support the safety, compliance, and integrity of casino operations. This role fosters a secure environment by ensuring operational awareness, mentoring team members, and maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of surveillance operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides oversight and direction to ensure tasks within the surveillance monitor room are effectively distributed, prioritized, and managed by the surveillance agents. Exercises independent judgment in analyzing recorded and live surveillance video to identify suspicious activity and potential discrepancies related to gaming activities that may impact the integrity of operations. Assumes leadership role of the monitor room in the absence of Surveillance Leadership, making critical decisions and problem resolution to support the safety and security of YRC.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of all table games and applies advanced mathematical skills to support the verification of payouts, reimbursements, and reconciliations. Utilizes subject matter expertise to identify and address potential risks to operational integrity. Provides training and mentorship to new and existing Surveillance personnel through structured learning sessions, presentations, knowledge evaluations, and strategic input to Surveillance Management.
- Manages high-volume communication channels, including telephone and radio, while accurately capturing and logging critical information using surveillance software in a dynamic and fluid environment. Exercises sound judgment in conducting observations, preparing and reviewing detailed reports, and compiling player analyses aligned with established thresholds and evaluation criteria. Maintains strict confidentiality while supporting departmental objectives through data-driven assessments and documentation.
- Collaborate with casino operations and leadership to gather essential information for investigations involving criminal activity, regulatory compliance, and safety-related incidents; monitor restricted areas to prevent unauthorized access using discretion and sound judgment; and prepare and disseminate timely, accurate, and contextual notifications to organizational leadership regarding significant events, demonstrating independent judgment and strategic thinking throughout.
- Oversees and assigns Surveillance Agents to conduct casino department audits through the use of cameras and applicable databases to ensure regulatory compliance and or internal controls related to various financial transactions, morning audit drops, count room procedures, table games operations, food and beverage health and safety standards.
- Ensures Surveillance Agents have a thorough understanding of San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission internal controls, policies, and procedures applicable to the gaming facility, Federal and State regulations, Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS), as well as U.S. Bank Secrecy Act as it relates to Title 31 and Suspicious Activity Reports pertaining to Casino activities, through continuous training and development.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, accounting, law, psychology or related field required.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in surveillance, security, or relevant casino experience required.
- Minimum one (1) year in a leadership capacity involving the planning, organizing, coaching, mentoring, development, and/or oversight of personnel and their responsibilities preferred.
- Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
Must possess intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), commercial database systems, and internet research skills.
Must possess excellent report writing skills and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to understand and use various database management systems and the technological components of computers.
The ability to successfully pass an internal certification on all table games offered at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino within the first six (6) months is required.
The ability to speak effectively before groups of personnel or management and/or give direction to team members.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
Certified Surveillance Professionals (CSP) certification preferred.
No Driving Responsibilities: Role does not require a driver’s license or insurance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS – ENVIRONMENT

Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.
Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.
Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
