keedian
Technical Sales Engineer – IoT & Smart Building Automation
Job description
Keedian (formerly Tutenlabs) is transforming how buildings operate — combining technology implementation, AI-powered optimization, and managed services to help multi-site organizations cut costs, reduce emissions, and move from reactive fixes to predictive performance.
Our vision is clear: a future where buildings run autonomously, so our clients can focus on what matters most.
Location: Hybrid – We prioritize candidates based in Mexico (CDMX, Puebla, Querétaro, Edo. Méx.) , with availability to travel to customer sites as needed.
What this role is about
We're looking for an engineer who combines electronics, IoT, and Building Automation expertise with the ability to transform technology into scalable commercial solutions.
Rather than designing one-off projects, you'll define the technical standards that Keedian uses to deploy smart building solutions across hundreds of customer locations. You'll create repeatable IoT architectures, standardize hardware and connectivity, support the commercial team during presales, and ensure implementations delivered by contractors meet Keedian's quality standards.
This role sits at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Sales, and Delivery, helping turn innovative technologies into practical, cost-efficient solutions for retail stores, restaurants, banks, and other multi-site commercial environments.
Responsibilities
IoT Solution ArchitectureDesign standardized IoT architectures for smart building deployments.Define reference solutions using Keedian Link, LoRaWAN, MQTT, BACnet, Modbus, and other building communication technologies.Create scalable solutions that support different customer maturity levels and budgets.Select gateways, sensors, controllers, networking equipment, and field devices.Technical StandardizationDefine and maintain Keedian's standard technology stack for different customer segments.Build repeatable Bills of Materials (BOMs) and reference architectures.Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend new hardware or communication standards.Continuously optimize solutions for scalability, simplicity, and cost-efficiency.Technical Sales SupportSupport the Sales team during customer engagements.Translate customer requirements into technical proposals.Prepare solution architectures, scopes of work, and Bills of Materials.Participate in customer meetings and technical presentations.Help position the appropriate solution tier based on customer needs and budget.Implementation QualityReview contractor designs before deployment.Validate field installations and commissioning activities.Ensure implementations comply with Keedian's engineering standards.Identify technical issues early and recommend corrective actions.Continuous ImprovementCapture lessons learned from implementations.Improve technical documentation and deployment standards.Contribute to the evolution of Keedian's IoT platform and gateway ecosystem.RequirementsWe're looking for a mid-level engineer with strong technical fundamentals and the ability to bridge engineering and customer-facing conversations.Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Automation, or a related field.3–5+ years of experience in IoT, Smart Buildings, Building Automation, or technical solutions engineering.Strong understanding of IoT architectures and edge-to-cloud connectivity.Experience with LoRaWAN and MQTT.Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, and building automation communication protocols.Experience designing technical solutions, hardware selection, and Bills of Materials.Understanding of HVAC controls, energy metering, lighting, or refrigeration systems.Basic networking knowledge, including VPNs, cellular routers, and remote connectivity.Strong customer-facing communication skills.Analytical mindset with a focus on standardization and cost optimization.Comfortable using AI tools in your daily workflow.Fluent English and Spanish.Availability to travel to customer sites as needed.Nice to haveNiagara Framework or other BAS platforms.Siemens Desigo, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, or similar.BLE, Zigbee, or other wireless IoT technologies.Cloud IoT platforms.Experience with energy analytics or Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD).Experience with vendors such as Milesight, Teltonika, Accuenergy, Carel, or similar. •
