Job Description
Build. Test. Lead. Are you a master of the electronics lab who loves to lead by example? BAE Systems is seeking an Electrical Prototyping Lab Manager to run the show at our Minneapolis prototype facility. If you are as comfortable with a soldering iron as you are with a team spreadsheet, we want to talk to you.
The Role: This isn't a "desk job." You'll be on the floor, in the thick of the action, directing a team of skilled assemblers and technicians. You will ensure our prototype environment runs like a well-oiled machine—safe, secure, and hyper-efficient.

- Cutting-Edge Tech: You'll be responsible for integrating the latest laboratory technologies and tools.
- Real-World Impact: Your leadership directly affects the quality and speed of our prototyping process.
- Work-Life Balance: We work a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.
Physical Requirements: This role requires regular presence in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. The incumbent must be able to access and safely navigate production areas which may include climbing, kneeling, stooping, and working in confined spaces. Must also be able to comply with all requirements including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Industrial Field and 6+ years experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to direct, delegate, and measure the performance of electronics technicians and assemblers.
- Strong communication skills for instructing personnel on safety procedures and equipment usage.
- Capable of enforcing organizational, safety, and housekeeping standards within the laboratory.
- Ability to lead and train others on the use of complex machinery, tools, and materials.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Hands-on experience in cable, circuit board, and panel assembly.
- Proficiency with standard lab equipment (Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Waveform Generators, etc.).
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- Prior supervisory or managerial experience.
- Experience programming and operating automated electronics assembly and test equipment.
- Familiarity with environmental test equipment, including thermal chambers and vibration tables.
- Ability to provide technical assistance and develop cost/effort estimates for prototyping and assembly projects.
- Proactive in identifying emerging tooling and techniques to improve long-term lab capabilities.
- Experience managing calibrated equipment and maintaining calibration standards.
- Proficiency working with high-voltage AC and DC systems.
- Strong knowledge of military and industrial standards, including MIL-HDBK-454, IPC-620, and IPC-610.
