Ppau
Maintenance Technician
Job description
WHO WE ARE
Planned Parenthood Association of Utah (PPAU) is a non-profit family planning agency and a leader in sexual and reproductive healthcare, advocacy, and education in the state of Utah. We provide high-quality, affordable sexual and reproductive health care for Utahns/people in six health centers across the state.
At PPAU, care is much more than the health, education, and advocacy services we provide; it’s the way we approach our world with compassion and a constant desire to improve. We care with kindness, respect, and are passionate about helping adults and teens of all genders, sexual orientations, races, religions, ethnicities, abilities, and cultural backgrounds lead healthy lives.
Job Duties
- Keep Our Health Centers Running Smoothly: Be the go-to expert for maintaining safe, clean, and fully operational facilities. Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and complete routine repairs—including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance—and ensure maintenance activities are accurately documented across all locations.
- Drive Facility Improvements: Partner with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to coordinate maintenance projects, renovations, and equipment installations. Prepare workspaces, oversee project logistics, and help bring facility improvements to life while minimizing disruption to daily operations.
- Support a Safe & Secure Environment: Serve as a trusted backup for facility security by assisting with cameras, alarm systems, badge access, and other security technologies under the direction of the Facilities & Security Manager. Help respond to and document security incidents while contributing to a culture of safety and preparedness.
- Champion Safety & Compliance: Help ensure our facilities meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and readiness. Assist with emergency preparedness activities, maintain facility and emergency supply inventories, and uphold organizational policies, including HIPAA, confidentiality, and workplace safety requirements.
- Be the Problem Solver: No two days are the same! Adapt to changing priorities by setting up meeting and event spaces, responding quickly to unexpected facility needs, supporting multiple health center locations, and providing occasional after-hours or on-call emergency assistance to keep operations moving without interruption.
- Make an Impact Every Day: Your work directly supports our patients, staff, and mission by creating welcoming, functional, and dependable spaces where high-quality healthcare can thrive.
What We're Looking For: We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes pride in their work, and is excited to make a meaningful impact every day. The ideal candidate will bring:
- A strong foundation: A high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel regularly between our health center locations.
- A hands-on mindset: The ability to safely perform physical work, including standing for extended periods, climbing ladders, and lifting or carrying 50+ pounds.
- Mechanical curiosity: Experience with general maintenance, basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or security systems is a plus—but not required. If you're eager to learn and enjoy working with your hands, we'll provide the training you need to succeed.
- Comfort with technology: Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and a willingness to learn facility management, security, and other internal systems.
- A service-first attitude: Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality work and exceptional support to staff and vendors.
- A collaborative spirit: A dependable team player who values inclusion, works effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, and is committed to supporting Planned Parenthood Association of Utah's mission and creating welcoming, safe spaces for everyone.
WHY WORK AT PPAU?
In addition to competitive wages and a comprehensive benefit package, being part of the PPAU team means providing all Utahns with the opportunity to move through their sexual and reproductive lives as safely, confidently, and healthily as possible.
Planned Parenthood Association of Utah is an equal employment opportunity employer and is committed to maintaining a non-discriminatory work environment.
