Position Summary
Acumetis is seeking a Consultant, Commercial Strategy to support the development of strategic insights that inform critical business decisions for our pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. This role is ideal for an early-career professional with strong analytical capabilities, intellectual curiosity, and an interest in the evolving life sciences landscape. The Consultant will collect, synthesize, and analyze competitive, clinical, scientific, and market information to identify opportunities, risks, and strategic implications across therapeutic areas. Working closely with senior consultants and client teams, this individual will help translate complex information into clear, actionable recommendations. The role emphasizes using strong quantitative and analytic abilities to integrate and analyze data, applying scientific and industry knowledge to interpret clinical, competitor, and marketplace data, and supporting commercial strategy through structured analysis of sales and marketing activities.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct primary and secondary research to gather competitive, clinical, scientific, and marketplace intelligence, addressing strategic and tactical sales and marketing issues.
Monitor competitor activities, including clinical trial developments, regulatory milestones, conferences, publications, partnerships, and commercial initiatives.
Analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources to identify key trends, risks, opportunities, and strategic implications, leveraging strong quantitative and analytic abilities.
Apply scientific and industry knowledge to interpret clinical, competitor, and marketplace data within relevant therapeutic areas.
Develop and implement models that relate sales or marketing activities to financial results, along with structured analyses, frameworks, and intelligence reports to support client decision-making.
Create high-quality presentations, dashboards, and executive-level communications that clearly articulate findings and recommendations, with a demonstrated ability to communicate research outputs in understandable and appealing formats.
Support the development of competitive landscape assessments, market monitoring programs, conference coverage, and strategic planning initiatives.
Participate in and facilitate client and project team meetings to explain analysis results and present findings.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across Commercial, Medical Affairs, and Business Development functions.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Business, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees in Business, Life Sciences, or Engineering are highly preferred.
1–3 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences consulting, competitive intelligence, market research, strategy consulting, life science research, competitive insights, or related analytical roles. Experience with market research in the life sciences is valued.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to synthesize large volumes of information into concise insights.
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills. Self-motivated with excellent writing and communication abilities.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Extremely well organized.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, with a history of communicating research outputs in understandable and appealing presentations.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Preferred
Advanced degree (MS, MPH, MBA, PharmD, or PhD).
Experience supporting oncology, immunology, rare disease, dermatology, neuroscience, or other specialty therapeutic areas.
Familiarity with pharmaceutical product development, commercialization, and competitive intelligence methodologies.
Experience creating executive-level presentations and client-facing deliverables.
