Job Purpose

The purpose of t he Special Projects Manager is to oversee the seamless execution of special projects within the electrical domain. The incumbent will lead special projects team members, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of clients and stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical special projects, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Oversee project progress, identifying potential risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to optimize project outcomes and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards in the execution of special projects.
  • Develop and implement solutions to ensure project continuity and success.
  • Coordinate and dispatch manpower to various job locations as required.
  • Monitor and adjust manpower deployment based on project needs and priorities.
  • Identify and order necessary materials and equipment for each project.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, including tracking expenses, forecasting costs, and managing change orders.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to ensure accurate and timely invoicing, payments, and financial reporting.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize project profitability.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews to assess project performance and address variances.
  • Assist in collections efforts to ensure timely and accurate payments from clients.

  • Independently conduct estimates for special projects jobs ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in assessment.
  • Conduct thorough site walks, taking detailed notes and photographs of the site conditions.
  • Review and document client requirements and project specifications.
  • Set up project folders in estimating software and input all relevant data.
  • Calculate profit margins and ensure they are appropriately factored into the estimates.
  • Communicate clearly with clients to explain estimates and address any questions or concerns.
  • Actively search for and pursue new work opportunities to expand the company’s special projects portfolio.
  • Identify potential clients and projects, contributing to the growth and sustainability of the service department.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and proactive engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Address client concerns and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide direction and guidance to service team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately amongst service team members.
  • Identify opportunities for professional development and offer constructive feedback.
  • Perform any other job-related duties or function as assigned by management.
  • Accountable for leading efforts in implementing continuous improvement initiatives and methodologies to improve processes and increase efficiency.
  • Participate in CECI Continuous Improvement events as needed (ex: JDI, RIE & A3's)
  • Maintain SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) for compliance practices and other associated functions.
  • Demonstrates and represents company core values in daily actions, interactions, and decision-making processes.

What You'll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5+ years of electrical field experience, project management, estimating, or a similar role.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams, providing direction and fostering a collaborative work environment. Strong delegation skills to ensure tasks are appropriately distributed and executed.
  • Critical thinking and sound judgment in making strategic decisions related to project planning, cost control, and resource allocation
  • Proactive approach to identifying risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies. Strong analytical skills for resolving issues that arise during project execution.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with vendors and manage client expectations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Ability to manage budgets, forecast costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities while ensuring profitability.
  • Precision in estimating, monitoring financials, and ensuring project documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • In-depth knowledge of project planning, coordination, and execution, including timeline management, resource allocation, and scope control.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, codes, and standards specific to electrical special projects.
  • Expertise in developing and managing project budgets, including change order management, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in estimating software and tools for setting up project folders, calculating margins, and inputting relevant data.
  • Ability to conduct thorough site walks, documenting conditions and client requirements for accurate project estimates.
  • Knowledge of strategies for identifying new business opportunities and expanding the company's special projects portfolio.
  • Expertise in managing client interactions, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to lead and develop team members, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
