Job description

Overview

Full-Time Developmentally-Minded Nanny

Brentwood, California

Position Summary

A warm, hands-on family in Brentwood is seeking an experienced, polished, and professional Full-Time Nanny to support the care of their two children: an energetic and curious school-age child and an infant. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in childcare — preferably with a background in education or child development — who brings both structure and warmth into the home.

The position focuses primarily on infant care during the day, as the older child will be in school for most of the scheduled hours. The ideal candidate is engaging, proactive, emotionally intelligent, and able to integrate seamlessly into a private household while maintaining the highest standards of care, professionalism, and discretion. This is a high-profile family, so awareness of privacy, security protocols, and a strict no-social-media approach regarding the family and children is essential. They also have 3 lovable dogs in the home.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Location: Brentwood, CA (local candidates preferred)
  • Hourly Rate: $50 – $60+ per hour (gross, W-2)
  • Employment Type: Full-time, on the books, W-2 with full tax withholding
  • Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
  • Trial Period: A paid working interview (1–3 days at the hourly rate) is expected prior to a formal offer
  • Benefits: Healthcare stipend, paid sick time, generous paid vacation and holiday time off

General Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate care for both children, with a primary focus on infant care
  • Support morning routines, including preparing the older child for school and providing transportation when needed
  • Establish and maintain consistent routines aligned with the family's parenting philosophies, discipline methods, and household guidelines
  • Serve as a thoughtful liaison between parents, teachers, tutors, family assistants, and household staff
  • Support academic learning, homework, and enrichment activities for the older child
  • Assist with infant care including feeding, soothing, naps, and tracking developmental milestones
  • Coordinate and supervise extracurricular activities, appointments, and playdates
  • Reinforce manners, etiquette, and social awareness in line with parental guidance
  • Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for the children; assist with mealtime routines and cleanup
  • Keep child-related spaces clean, organized, and well-maintained (laundry, toys, nursery, play areas)
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, and hygiene routines
  • Safely transport children as needed and follow all family security protocols
  • Use discretion and maintain strict confidentiality at all times

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience as a private nanny, ideally in similar fully-staffed homes
  • Professional experience with both young infants and school-aged children
  • Must be authorized to work legally in the United States
  • Strong, formal childcare background — ideally with education or child development training
  • Bilingual English and French strongly preferred; other languages are a plus
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to become certified prior to start)
  • Must be Trustline certified
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Have own reliable vehicle to use for working hours
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, text, and email)
  • Highly organized, proactive, and adaptable
  • Professional demeanor with a "no task too big or too small" mindset
  • Comfortable using home security alarms and following household security protocols
  • Genuine warmth, patience, and presence with children of different ages
  • Have a love of dogs, with no allergies to pets
  • Openness to traveling with the family is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift, carry, and hold an infant for extended periods (up to 25 lbs), and carry car seats, strollers, and related gear up to 40 lbs
  • Comfortable bending, kneeling, squatting, and sitting on the floor for extended play
  • Able to remain on feet for long stretches and move quickly when supervising young children
  • Able to climb stairs comfortably while carrying a child
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to monitor an infant and supervise a young child safely
  • Able to safely buckle and unbuckle children into car seats and operate strollers and child carriers

Health, Safety & Background

  • Must pass a comprehensive background check (criminal, civil, motor vehicle, and reference verification)
  • Required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to start
  • Must be up to date on standard vaccinations, including Tdap (whooping cough), seasonal flu, MMR, and COVID-19, given exposure to a newborn
  • Non-smoking, non-vaping household — candidate must be a non-smoker and non-vaper, on and off duty
