Job description
Overview
Substance Misuse Nurse
West Sussex Drug & Alcohol Wellbeing Network
37.5 Hours per Week | Permanent | NMC Registration Required
Nursing that changes lives.
Some nursing roles treat illness.
This one helps people rebuild their future.
Every day you'll work with people who have often experienced trauma, exclusion and complex health needs. You'll help improve physical health, reduce harm, build confidence and support recovery that lasts.
At Change Grow Live, our nurses don't just deliver clinical interventions—they build trust, advocate for better health and give people the opportunity to change the direction of their lives.
If you're looking for a role where you'll be challenged, supported and inspired every day, we'd love to hear from you.
Why West Sussex?
Across West Sussex, we're transforming the way people access treatment and recovery services.
Working as part of our multidisciplinary Drug & Alcohol Wellbeing Network, you'll collaborate with Recovery Coordinators, Prescribers, Psychosocial Practitioners, GPs, Pharmacists and local healthcare partners to deliver joined-up, person-centred care that genuinely changes lives.
This is an environment where clinical excellence, compassion and innovation go hand in hand.
Where your ideas are welcomed.
Where your professional judgement is valued.
And where your contribution will have a lasting impact on the people and communities we serve.
The Opportunity
As a Substance Misuse Nurse, you'll deliver specialist clinical care that helps people improve both their physical and mental wellbeing while supporting them through every stage of recovery.
You'll carry out comprehensive health assessments, support prescribing and community detoxification, deliver harm reduction interventions and provide expert clinical advice that enables people to achieve safer, healthier and more independent lives.
Every person you support will have a different story.
Every day will bring new challenges.
Every intervention has the potential to change a life.
You'll Thrive Here If You...
Believe every person deserves compassionate, non-judgemental healthcare.
Enjoy building trusted relationships with people from all walks of life.
Want to use your clinical expertise to tackle health inequalities.
Are passionate about improving physical health alongside recovery.
Enjoy working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Want to continue developing your skills and specialist clinical knowledge.
Whether you already have experience within substance misuse or you're looking to move into this specialist field from primary care, community nursing, acute care or mental health, we'll provide the training, clinical supervision and ongoing development to help you succeed.
