Position Summary We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) with 3+ years of civil engineering experience (primarily public works and water/wastewater) to join our team. You will support design and delivery of municipal water and wastewater projects and assist on transportation assignments as needed. Under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer, you will perform engineering analyses, prepare design drawings and specifications, assist with permitting and construction support, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and public agency clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, hydraulic/hydrologic analyses, and detailed design for water distribution, sewer collection, pump stations, lift stations, water/wastewater treatment, and related public works projects
  • Produce CAD/Civil 3D (or MicroStation) plans, profiles, details, and quantity takeoffs for pipeline, pump station, and site work
  • Prepare technical specifications, cost estimates, permit applications, and design calculations
  • Support transportation/roadway projects as assigned (drainage design, utility coordination, plan preparation)
  • Participate in field investigations, data collection, and construction observation/support
  • Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs during construction
  • Contribute to technical reports, project proposals, and client communications
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project team members to meet schedule and budget goals

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • EIT certification (or able to obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience, primarily in public works and water/wastewater projects
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation; strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with hydraulic/hydrologic and water/wastewater modeling tools (or willingness to learn)
  • Familiarity with municipal permitting processes, standards, and agency coordination
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some construction administration or field inspection experience
  • Experience with GIS and mapping for utilities
  • Exposure to regulatory drivers (NPDES, state/local water quality rules)
  • Experience with cost estimating and bid/contract documents
