Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our ED Tech, you will provide crucial support and direct patient care in the fast-paced Emergency Department, ensuring efficient operations and compassionate assistance during critical moments.Every day you will expertly assist with patient admissions and discharges, perform vital signs and basic medical procedures, maintain a clean and organized environment, and meticulously document observations to support the nursing staff and physician team.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate outstanding adaptability, strong communication skills, and a calm, proactive demeanor, contributing significantly to timely patient care and a smooth-running ED.

  • Technical Skills: Competent in psychomotor skills and technical procedures within scope of practice.
  • Assists EDRN by preparing the patient for examination/treatment appropriate to the chief complaint and demographic/population specific criteria.
  • Obtains 12-Lean EKG’s when directed/ordered.
  • Performs and documents all vital signs, special procedure set up, splinting and any other simple tasks as directed by the RN within the scope of their practice.
  • Responds effectively in emergency situation. Stocks, re-stocks supplies in department, and may be asked to place orders for specialty or stationary supplies specific to the ED.
  • Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system (Cerner FirstNet).

Job Requirements

Required

  • Successful completion of an Accredited EMT Program in California and previous experience as an ER Tech or EMT.
  • Emergency Medical Technician: CA.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.

Preferred

  • Six (6) months ER Tech experience.
  • Six (6) months experience working for a 911 or IFT/CCT Ambulance or Fire Service.
