Job description

Summary Description: T he human resources (HR) team at North Carolina Electric Cooperatives is focused on b uilding the best team, providing the best support, and developing innovative talent and leaders. Launch or build an exciting HR career in the mission driven electric cooperative industry . The Human Resources Speci alist will drive recruitment and onboarding activities and support the HR department to ensure smooth and efficient business operations. The Human Resources Specialist will have administrative and strategic responsibilities and help with functions like staffing, training and development, and HR administration.

Academic and Trade Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in HR or related field required. Experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for education. Proven success working in an HR department.

Work Experience: 3-5 years' experience in the human resources field with 1-2 years' experience in talent acquisition.

Responsibilities

  • Generating internal documents such as offer letters and promotion letters
  • Creating and executing onboarding plans and working with new hires
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and maintenance of the employee handbook
  • Suggest new procedures and policies for improving employee experience as well as the efficiency of HR department and company
  • Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including queries, and ongoing reports as needed
  • Manage the full recruiting lifecycle across a variety of open roles, helping managers find, hire, and retain quality candidates
  • Maintain and submit company Affirmative Action Program
  • Assist in developing training and development initiatives
  • Undertake tasks around performance management
  • Oversee and manage employee records
  • Oversee the vendor management process for companies' contingent workforce
  • Oversee the internship program
  • Attend career fairs for recruitment while promoting NCEC and building a future talent pipeline
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Knowledge

  • Knowledge of employment law, principles of human resources management, and employee relations.
  • Knowledge of HRIS and ability to learn new technical systems, when necessary
  • Knowledge of job boards and computer systems designed specifically for HR
  • Knowledge and experience developing recruitment and onboarding strategies
  • Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; HRIS systems (e.g. UKG) will be a plus

  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Proven success in conducting interviews using various methods (phone, video, email, in-person)
  • Ability to work with internal clients on a variety of HR related issues and/or situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Desire to work as a team with a result driven approach
