Airfreight Manager

Location: Bangkok, Thailand

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee air freight operations to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries, while managing the business unit’s profitability through effective revenue and cost control.
  • Overall responsible for the daily operational excellence within the department
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with airlines, company branches, ground handling agents, customers and customs brokers
  • Negotiating rates and contracts with air carriers and third-party logistics providers
  • Monitoring shipment status and taking proactive action in the event of issues such as delays or damage
  • Ensuring compliance with international air transport regulations (e.g. IATA, LBA, customs)
  • Preparing and analyzing KPIs, reports and budgets to assess performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Monitoring and optimizing operational procedures and review of documentation processes, including air waybills, customs declarations and invoicing
  • Supporting the improvement of air freight-related structures
  • Identifying and developing new sales accounts and promoting the company’s air freight services
  • Managing and training staff involved in air freight operations

QHSE, Compliance and Ethics REQUIREMENTS

  • Responsibility for adhering to safe working practices and ensuring the health and safety of oneself and others in the workplace
  • Compliance with all requirements of the deugro Group’s integrated management system
  • Attendance at required health and safety events, training sessions risk assessments and safety briefings
  • Reporting of incidents, unsafe acts and working conditions, as well as exercising the right to stop work if an unsafe act or working condition is present
  • Ensuring compliance at all times with the Code of Ethics and Compliance (CoEC), all deugro Group policies and local laws
  • Acting with honesty and integrity at all times and engaging in fair competition
  • Maintaining a respectful and productive working environment

Skills, knowledge and expertise

  • Completed degree or apprenticeship in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain management, or a comparable field
  • Several years of professional experience in air freight operations, including solid exposure to complex oversized and project shipments
  • Strong expertise in end-to-end air freight processes, including documentation, customs clearance, and regulatory compliance (e.g., IATA, customs requirements)
  • Proven experience in negotiating rates and contracts with airlines, agents, and logistics providers, with a strong commercial mindset
  • Sound understanding of commercial steering, including pricing, budgeting, and profitability optimization
  • Ability to analyze KPIs and operational data to identify performance improvements and implement corrective actions
  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholders, including customers, carriers, customs brokers, and international offices, ensuring high service quality and collaboration
  • Strong knowledge of transport coordination and operational planning, with the ability to manage complex logistics setups and resolve disruptions proactively
  • Proficiency in CargoWise (CW1) / NEO or similar systems, with a strong focus on data accuracy and operational visibility
  • Leadership experience, including team management, coaching, and performance development
  • Highly developed communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with a structured and solution-oriented approach
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and implement operational changes in a dynamic environment
  • Business fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are an advantage
