Position Highlights
The Eller College of Management’s Undergraduate Programs Office is seeking a professional with effective leadership and communication skills to join the team as an Assistant Director for Professional Development. The Assistant Director for Professional Development manages a team of professional Career Coaches as they support students with career coaching and professional development related programming. The Assistant Director plays a pivotal role in leading team initiatives that support the achievement of desired academic and career outcomes including the overall student experience.
The position is in-person, although flexible work options may be available by working with the supervisor. Events and programs will require both virtual and in-person coordination capabilities. Some evening and weekend hours are required.

Duties & Responsibilities
Program Oversight and Career Services Delivery
- Oversees the day-to-day delivery of career development programs, including workshops, career education, and student-facing services. Monitors service demands, prioritizes work, delegates responsibilities across the team to ensure consistent, high quality execution of programming that supports career readiness, internship, attainment, and employment outcomes.
- Provide individual and group advising to students regarding experiential learning; and support the Director in developing and facilitating innovative workshops; assist with managing, developing, and promoting experiential learning resources available through the Professional Development Center.
- Facilitate placement of students in positions related to their academic major.
- Promote the accessibility of experiential learning postings as well as experiential learning job-search strategies.
- Conduct outreach to current/prospective students to promote benefits of experiential learning.
- Facilitate instruction of career management course.
- Guide students by conducting resume/cover letter critiques and job-search strategies and providing guidance regarding application procedures and university recognition.
Staff supervision and team management
- Manage a team of Career Coaches; support hiring and training; provide guidance and performance monitoring related to career management initiatives resulting in internship and full-time placement rates.
- Research, utilize, and train staff on internship/job search strategies such as career fairs, social media outlets, online job boards, networking groups, and other resources for job/internship leads.
- Provide Career Coaching team training on the skills necessary to be successful with coaching and placing students.
- Provide trainings and workshops to fellow staff members to ensure objectives are being met.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with the Assistant Dean, Director, Advising team, Career Coaches, Professional Development Center, and Academic Departments to ensure the program achieves its full potential while meeting the needs of students.
- Collaborate with academic departments to effectively market experiential learning through outreach programming (i.e., Career Immersion Day).
- Collaborate with employers on experiential learning programs and events. Support PDC leadership team with initiatives as needed.
Assessment, Operations and Resource Management
- Oversee the collection, maintenance, and analysis of student database regarding career interests. Compile statistical information for recruiting annual report.
- Monitors program effectiveness, student engagement, and employment outcomes using data and reporting tools. Addresses operational issues ans escalates to the Director as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience
- Relevant work experience providing career coaching to business students.
- Familiarity with using eSMS and Handshake

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses.
